A lifestyle family session by Revel Photography has a little more structure than a documentary session and is a lot more candid than a portrait session. In a lifestyle session, we work together to create photos that look and feel natural but there is often some directing and prompting involved on my end.
For these sessions, I do ask you to clean your house (including removing clutter!) and will provide suggestions on what to wear and how to prepare. I will provide direction during the shoot to ensure flattering photos and come with a bunch of games and ideas to bring out some authentic laughter and emotion.
There is definitely a little more planning that would go in to this type of session in comparison to a documentary session. I will take a few traditional photos of your family looking at the camera (if I can get the kids to oblige!) but the vast majority of the photos will be of your family interacting and having fun.
Who is this type of session for?
These sessions are perfect for everyone, except for large groups of multiple families taking photos together. Most of the maternity sessions, newborn sessions and family sessions I photograph would be considered lifestyle sessions.
How long is a lifestyle session?
Cambridge lifestyle family photography sessions are usually 1-1.5 hours long, with the exception of newborn shoots which can last up to 3 hours depending on the baby (how often the baby needs to eat and get changed, whether the baby is crying etc.).
Where do these sessions take place?
Cambridge lifestyle family photography sessions can take place at your home or anywhere else! Newborn sessions exclusively take place at home and winter family sessions are often done at home as well. Parks, beaches and cottages are also awesome options. We can figure out the perfect spot for your family together!
