I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding at the Berkeley Fieldhouse Wedding Venue. To me, it’s one of the coolest venues in the city. The indoor space is white, bright and modern with high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and a really awesome staircase that leads to absolutely nowhere. I’m told the staircase is a lot of fun to decorate and couples often do some pretty creative things with it! The outdoor space is an urban oasis. From the creek running through it, to the various little secluded areas small groups can escape to and the beautiful greenery, to the rustic treehouse, large patio and fire pit, there is truly something for everyone. During events, couples have the option to open all the doors leading to the patio and create a space that freely flows from indoors to outdoors.
The venue is unassuming from the outside. It’s set on busy Queen St. East, between big buildings, storefronts and, of course, the beautiful Berkeley Church (one of Berkeley Events other venues… which is also incredible!). It’s so hard to believe that a beautiful urban oasis lies behind the red fence.
What do I love most about the Berkley Fieldhouse Wedding Venue? That’s a tough decision! There is SO much to love. Maybe it’s the super rustic blue treehouse that overlooks the property… it’s the perfect man cave! You really don’t see a lot of “groom suites” these days, so the treehouse really differentiates this venue. It’s nice for the guys to have somewhere to hang out before the guests arrive. I also really love the greenery. You really get the feeling that you left the city when you walk through the front gates. If you’re looking for a taste of Muskoka right in the middle of the city, this is the venue for you.
While visiting the Berkeley Fieldhouse Wedding Venue, I spoke with Tom, the Sales Manager for the venue. He was really helpful, showed me around, told me all about the little nooks and crannies there are to explore within the space and also let me know about all of the other event venues owned by Berkeley Events. I’ll be covering a few of them through this project, so stay tuned! He was married last year at La Maquette and had some advice to share with newly engaged couples. He said “ Choosing a venue is kinda like starting a new relationship. When you meet someone you usually know within a few minutes how you feel about them. Go with your gut. Look at 3 venues and pick the one that feels right.” He also urges couples not to worry about the weather, some of the most beautiful weddings happen on cold and rainy days. If you choose any of the Berkeley venues, they will take great care of you and make sure that no matter what the weather may be, all will run smoothly and you will have an unforgettable experience.
